The Romanian Constitutional Court rejected the request of the presidential candidate from the ultra -right “alliance for the unification of the Romanians” George Simion, which demanded to cancel the results of the second round of the election of the head of state on May 18.
The politician argued that the May elections were falsified and interfered with France and Moldova.
The Constitutional Court of the country unanimously rejected its petition as unreasonable.
May 18 in Romania, the second round of presidential elections took place, the victory on which the mayor of Bucharest Nikushor Dan won. The politician who was playing for the integration of the country into NATO and the European Union gained 53.6 % of the vote.
The first round of elections of the President of Romania took place on November 24, 2024. According to official figures, the independent candidate Kalin Georgkeka, opposing the West and NATO, was leading from 22.95% of the vote. The leader of the opposition party “Union of Salvation of Romania” Elena Laskoni gained 19.17% of the vote.
The Romanian Constitutional Court on the basis of objections unanimously decided to cancel the results of the first round of the presidential election.
