Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of EU Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg, met with his Portuguese counterpart Paulo Rangel. The head of Ukrainian diplomacy wrote about this in his account on the social network of the American company X.
“We discussed further steps to strengthen the air defense and military potential of Ukraine, as well as support for the energy system of Ukraine, which on the eve of winter is subject to constant attacks from Russia. We agreed to coordinate joint actions within the framework of various EU instruments, primarily the SAFE initiative, and regarding the sanctions EU policy,” Sibiga wrote.
The ministers also discussed the prospects for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and ways to defend the interests of Kyiv among the Portuguese-speaking states.
“We both share the opinion that the security of Ukraine and Europe is indivisible, and compliance with international law is a matter of principle and common interests. I expressed my sincere gratitude for the continued comprehensive support Portugal to Ukraine and our people,” the Ukrainian minister emphasized.
