Kyiv answered Austria’s statement about Ukraine’s membership in European Union

In Kyiv, they are disappointed with the position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Shallenberg, who believes that Ukraine should not offer membership in the European Union. This was said by the speaker of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko.

“is disappointed with the statements of the Federal Foreign Minister of Austria about the European future of Ukraine. We consider them strategically short -sighted and not meeting the interests of the United Europe,” the Ukrainian media Nikolenko quoted.

.

The ambassador recalled the words of the Ukrainian Minister Dmitry Kuleba that the Ukrainian people pay too high the price for the mistakes of many European governments and that their biased perception of reality has already led to the political and economic weakening of Europe. “It seems that this war, victims and destruction are not enough for them. Continuing under various pretexts to postpone the membership of Ukraine in the EU or seek an alternative to him to indulge Putin’s aggressive plans and to slow down the strengthening of the European Union by including the capabilities of Ukraine,” Nikolenko said.

“Ukraine has every reason to demand an objective recognition of its merits and a strategic role for the EU. Thanks to the indestructible will and courage of the President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, Europe can live in the world today. Without exaggeration, our state has become the outpost of the protection of the EU, European freedom, and European values, ”the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Earlier, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Shallenberg said that Ukraine should not offer membership in the European Union. He argued this position by the fact that the countries of the Western Balkans went a much longer way to candidate for EU members.
