Kyiv: US Work On Peace Plan Continues

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov confirmed that during a recent trip to the United States he actually discussed the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. He reported this on his social networks.

However, according to him, Ukraine has not yet agreed to the proposed conditions, and negotiations continue.

According to Umerov, his task during the visit was of a technical nature – organizing meetings and preparing a dialogue between the parties. He emphasized that he did not give any assessments and did not agree on the points of the plan, since this was not within his authority. Umerov noted that direct negotiations are being conducted by the President of Ukraine, who the day before had a conversation with the American delegation authorized by Donald Trump, and technical work continues in Kyiv. “We are carefully studying all the proposals of our partners, expecting an equally correct attitude towards the Ukrainian position,” he said.

The NSDC Secretary also denied the claims of foreign media that, at the request of Ukraine, the clause on verification of provided international assistance was excluded from the draft plan. According to him, such publications are untrue and based on unverified information. Umerov emphasized that Ukraine is considering partners’ proposals in accordance with the unchanging principles – sovereignty, human security and a just world.
