40 -year -old citizen of Kyrgyzstan Torobkov Abdesbek, who had previously arrived in Turkey to help after earthquakes, returned here as a patient – with a diagnosis, chronic hepatic deficiency caused by hepatitis B. In Ankar, he was successfully transplanted by part of the liver from his own brother, and now he is healthy again.
After complaints of pain and bloating in the stomach, as well as weakness, Abdesbek turned to one of the hospitals of Kyrgyzstan. Doctors diagnosed him with the terminal stage of liver failure. Since it was impossible to conduct a transplant in his native country, the man arrived for treatment in Turkey.
In an interview with Anadol, he recalled that he had already been here after earthquakes in Khramanmarash as part of the Kyrgyz rescue mission.
“Then I came to help, now – for help. When it got worse, vomiting with blood began. I was told that the only chance to escape is the transplantation of the liver,” he said.
Abdesbek said that his elder brother without hesitation agreed to become a donor. “He said: ‘If you are healthy, I will be happy too.” I want him to live for many years. When my problems began, the chairman of the Kyrgyz analogue AFAD contacted Turkey, my path to recovery began, “he added.
Abdesbek expressed gratitude to the Turkish doctors for the saved life.
“Türkiye is one of the leading countries in the field of transplantology”
The surgeon surgeon from the city hospital Etlik, Dr. Gürkan Degirmenjiu, confirmed that the transplant of the liver Abdesbek was vital.
“He had a terminal stage of hepatic deficiency against the background of hepatitis B. We have transplanted from a living donor. Now both – both a donor and a recipient – feel good and returned home. Recently, they again came to us for a planned examination,” he said.
The surgeon noted that due to the low number of posthumous donors in Turkey, liver transplantation is often carried out from living relatives. Patients from abroad, according to him, also come with potential donors, as they cannot be included in the Turkish waiting sheet.
“In Turkey, surgeons have high qualifications and vast experience. Many patients of Turkish origin from abroad pass a transplant from us through intermediary organizations or directly through the Ministry of Health,” added Degirmenjiu.
