Kyrgyzstan And Tajikistan Signed Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed 16 cooperation agreements during the state visit of President Sadyr Zheparov in Dushanbe. Documents cover a wide range of directions – from security and tourism to science, ecology and public service. This was reported in the administration of the head of the Kyrgyz state.

Among key agreements – the creation of an intergovernmental council, an agreement on confidence measures, a program of cooperation between foreign ministries for 2026-2027, as well as joint initiatives in the field of geodesy, cadastre, industry, accreditation, environmental protection and standardization.

In addition, memorandums of partnership in the social sphere, television and radio broadcasting and agrarian science are also signed.

Particularly significance attached the agreement on the creation of a business council between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the two countries.

Negotiations in an expanded composition

After the official meeting in Dushanbe, the heads of state held negotiations in an expanded format.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon noted that the visit of the Kyrgyz leader reflects mutual interest in the stable and dynamic development of bilateral relations.

According to him, the decisions made today are aimed at strengthening good neighborliness and bringing cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, in turn, emphasized that the completion of the legal design of the border opens up opportunities to expand partnership, primarily in the trade, economic and cultural and humanitarian spheres. He proposed to resume the work of the highest interstate council, create a mechanism for the interaction of parliaments and establish a permanent forum of border regions.

Separate attention of Zheparov paid the joint response to climatic and environmental challenges in the mountain regions.

He expressed his readiness to participate in regional and global initiatives on sustainable development of mountainous territories, improve infrastructure and reduce the risk of natural disasters.

Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed the commitment to strengthening political dialogue and the development of comprehensive cooperation. Sadyr Zhaparov expressed confidence that the visit will become a new milestone in the Kyrgyz-Tajik relations.
