In the province of Idlib in northwestern Syria, a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized during a security operation carried out by units of the Internal Security Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the official Syrian news agency SANA, security units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out the operation based on intelligence information received in the Sermedeh area and the results of operational work on the ground.
During the operation carried out by the units, a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized, hidden in Inter type vehicle and the drivers of the vehicle were detained.
The report noted that following initial investigations, the weapons were obtained from a farm owned by another person in the area and the suspects admitted to illegally trafficking the weapons.
During a search conducted by security forces at the said farm, additional weapons, ammunition and rocket ammunition were seized, as well as two vehicles and forged official documents.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs says that all weapons and the ammunition was taken under guard, and those detained, after completing the necessary investigative actions, were transferred to the judicial authorities.
