Largest Turkish bank stopped working with Mir

The largest state Ziraat Bankasi in Turkey has left the Russian payment system “Mir” and no longer serves its cards. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the General Director of the Bank Alpaslana Chakara.

On September 19, large Turkish banks of IS Bankasi and Denizbank stopped serving Russian Mir cards, after the United States promised to impose sanctions for Russia’s assistance in around restrictions. On September 28, the media reported that operations with the Mir card were stopped by Ziraat Bank, Vakifbank and Halkbank. Turkey intends to create an alternative to the Russian payment system.
