Latvian Foreign Minister won presidential election

The Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgers Rinkevich is elected by the president of the country.

All three rounds of elections were held on the same day and three candidates claimed to be the presidency of Latvia.

In order to become the president of Latvia, it is necessary to enlist the support of at least 51 out of 100 deputies of the country’s parliament.

In the third round of elections, 52 deputies supported the candidacy of Rinkevichs. Thus, the Foreign Minister Latvia won the election and became the new president of the country.

The current president of Latvia, Egils Levits, congratulated Rinkevichs on the election.

“Congratulations to the future President Edgars Rinkevsa. Our president has a great responsibility for the future of the country and our people. I am sure that Latvia will be in reliable hands in the next four years,” Levitts wrote on Twitter.

The term of powers of the President of Latvia Levits expires on July 8.
