Moscow is configured for active creative work in the format of the Caspian Five in the interests of strengthening the positions of this region as a zone of peace, consent, good neighborliness and fruitful international cooperation. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov at the first meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Caspian cooperation.

According to the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, the joint work of the Caspian countries is “an important factor in ensuring security, stability and sustainable development throughout Eurasia.” “Our work is to see how to increase the efficiency of efforts in order to realize multifaceted Russian interests in the Caspian, how to provide assistance to further disclosure of the potential of the region and in trade, economic, transit, humanitarian, other areas and, of course, in preserving the very fragile ecology of the reservoir, ”the minister said.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that the international transport corridor of the North – South is at the Russian leadership “for priority control”. “All these directions require dense interaction with coastal states, harmonization of interests, joint actions in solving Caspian problems,” he said.
