Lavrov: Russia appreciates balanced position of Somalia in Ukraine

Russia appreciates a balanced and balanced position that Somali takes on issues related to what is happening around Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov based on the results of negotiations with the Foreign Minister Somali Abshir Omar Huruz.

“We share our assessments of the situation, and it seems to me that the vast majority of developing countries understand the root causes of this crisis, which are rooted in the desire of the United States and their allies to recklessly strengthen their dominance not only in Europe, expanding NATO, contrary to all the assurances not to do it this, but also in other regions, ”the minister said.

In addition, Lavrov expressed the appreciation of Somalia for the decision of the President of the Republic of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to personally participate in the Russia -Africa summit, which will be held in July in St. Petersburg.

Further, Lavrov said that Russia again confirmed its readiness to satisfy the needs of the Somali National Army in technology to complete the efforts to combat terrorists.

According to him, Russia will also continue to assist Somalia in the issue of training for the Somali National Police.

Lavrov noted that Moscow will support the legitimate positions of the Somali government when discussing the situation in the country in the UN Security Council. “We consider it very important to start shooting, let it gradually, but nevertheless to remove the sanctions that have been announced at one time. They are now interfering with the efforts of the Somali government to stabilize the situation,” the minister described.

Following the negotiations, Russian Foreign Ministers and Somali signed a memorandum of consultations and cooperation between the foreign policy departments of the two countries.
