Moscow is ready to move forward in contacts with the American side at a pace that will be comfortable for Washington.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in an interview with the Hungarian YouTube channel Ultrahang.
“After a conversation with [US Secretary of State] Marco Rubio about how to move forward following the meeting at Alaska, he did not mention new meetings or negotiations, and I myself did not raise this issue, since the initiative came from the United States. We are ready to move forward at a pace that will be comfortable for the Americans,” the minister said.
Lavrov recalled that his last conversation with the head of the State Department took place after the conversation between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump 16 October.
“We had a substantive conversation, during which I confirmed our full commitment to what was discussed in Alaska and to the clear agreements that the presidents reached then,” the Russian Foreign Minister explained.
Earlier, Trump, after a telephone conversation with Putin, said that they had agreed to meet soon in Budapest. Later, the American leader explained that the meeting could take place in the next two weeks.
