The Lebanese Army announced a raid for “one of the largest drugs ever discovered drug production” in the city of Yemun-Balbeck in the east of the country, near the Syrian border.

A written statement published by the Lebanese army says: “After military intelligence units received information that in the Yemuna-Balbeck area there is a large captagon production facility, scouts and army units held a joint raid for this facility. This place turned out to be one of the largest facilities discovered today.”

Lebanese soldiers dismantled about 10 tons of machines and equipment used at the facility and destroyed some of them. A large number of captagon tablets, crystalline substance and various drugs were seized.

The statement notes that the seized drugs are transferred to the relevant authorities. An investigation of the incident has begun under the supervision of the court, the guilty search is underway.

The BALABEK region, located near the Syrian border, has been known for the production of drugs for many years. In March in this region, clashes occurred between the Syrian security forces and drug dealers.
