Lebanese Prime Minister Nevaf Salam met in Beirut with a delegation from the US Treasury.
According to a written statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Salam received the American delegation led by Sebastian Gorka in Beirut.
During the meeting, measures taken by the Lebanese government to combat money laundering were discussed.
The parties also discussed the deployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country and in other regions, as well as maintaining stability in the country as a whole.
The Prime Minister noted that the government’s priorities include completing the reform process and increasing the transparency of government institutions, and also drew attention to the progress made in the field of border control.
On November 9, the American delegation also met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
On November 6, the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of sanctions against members of Hezbollah. accused of “exploiting cash in the economy.”
