The draw for the qualifying play-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place in Zurich on November 20. An Anadolu Agency correspondent on the sidelines of the event talked with world football legends Christian Karembeu and Pavel Nedved.
Pavel Nedved is a Czech football star who played for Juventus and Lazio, as well as the former general manager of the Czech national team. Christian Carambe is a French footballer, world and European champion.
The agency’s interlocutors spoke on a number of topics: from the path of the Turkish national team to the final stage of the World Cup to the game of Turkish football stars Arda Güler and Kenan Yildiz.
“Arda Güler is a fantastic player. He is a talented young footballer, and he shows the whole world what he is capable of. Every time he takes to the field in a Real Madrid shirt, he shows a brilliant performance. Real Madrid is very happy with him. Football needs players like Arda Güler,” said Karambe, speaking about the 20-year-old Real Madrid player.
Commenting on the performance of the Turkish national team, he emphasized that there are very talented players in the team. In his opinion, Turkey has a chance to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Pavel Nedved, in turn, expressed admiration for the game of Kenan Yildiz. “Kenan Yildiz is simply a fantastic player. He is a high-quality football player, he is still very young, and, of course, he will reveal his potential even more in the future,” he said.
The Czech football player also spoke highly of the coaching work Turkish specialist Fatih Terim.
