Levon Ter-Petrosyan: “Capitulated not Pashinyan, but Armenia”

“Whoever is in the place of Pashinyan – Robert Kocharian, Serge Sargsyan or, say, Ishkhan Sagatelan, they would obediently make a decision that will be imposed on Armenia.” About this in his article published on the website Ilur.am noted the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

According to Ter-Petrosyan, the “current domestic political confrontation” does not strengthen, but weakens Armenia’s position in the upcoming difficult negotiations.

“There is no need to prove that the policy of refusing compromises and preserving the status quo led to a national catastrophe, and after the disaster, even some of the former supporters of this policy recognize this.

However, at the same time, in order to justify themselves, many try to prove that the same thing would happen if they had chosen the path of a compromise. This is nothing more than a miserable attempt to self -justification, absolutely unproven, for history does not like subjunctive mood.

History fixes what has already been done. Therefore, no matter how many opponents of the compromise decision of the Karabakh conflict (statesmen, party figures, representatives of the intelligentsia) are trying to justify their anti -national actions, sooner or later they will appear before the court of history, which no one has yet escaped. It is the awareness of such a fate that is still forced to justify their catastrophogenic behavior, which, unfortunately, exacerbates the current crisis in Armenia, ”said the first president of Armenia.

Levon Ter-Petrosyan emphasized that it is not clear what the main goal of today’s opposition is. “With the light hand of Serge Sargsyan, Nikol Pashinyan received the label of the” capitula “, which, perhaps, is also half, but half. In fact, not Pashinyan, but Armenia. Pashinyan only signed a statement of the surrender of Armenia. Therefore, whoever was on Pashinyan’s place – Robert Kocharian, Serge Sargsyan or, say, Ishkhan Sagatelan, they would obediently make a decision that will be imposed on Armenia, ”Ter -Petrosyan noted.

According to the ex-president, respectively, the problem does not depend on the personality of the leader of Armenia. “If this simple truth is not understood, and the domestic political shocks of our country will continue, then the decisions imposed on us will be much more painful, regardless of whether Pashinyan or someone else will sign the final document,” he emphasized.

He noted that if representatives of the intelligentsia really want to engage in patriotic activities, “let them force Nikola Pashinyan, Robert Kocharian, Serge Sargsyan to sit at one table and find a way out of the domestic political crisis.”
