Lithuania banned import of Russian gas

Lithuania banned the import of natural gas from Russia, with the exception of its transit to the Kaliningrad region. Corresponding amendments approved the Lithuanian Sejm, Interfax reports.

According to data, 123 parliamentarians voted in support of this decision, two abstained. Now the Lithuanian gas transportation system and the terminal of liquefied natural gas (LNG) of the Lithuanian Klaipedos NAFTA (controls also oil mixtures in the Klaiped Port) will be available only to suppliers from countries that do not pose a threat of Lithuania national security.

Since the beginning of April, Lithuania has completely stopped the import of Russian gas. The country receives gas through Klaipedsky LNG terminal. Also in May, Lithuania refused Russian electricity.
