Lithuania plans to increase defense costs: more than more NATO troops will place

President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauceda plans to increase the country’s expenses for defense up to 3% of GDP in order to place more NATO troops, reports Reuters.

“As for the infrastructure, we are not ready to post a unit the size of a brigade in Lithuania because there is no infrastructure for accommodation. I hope that by 2027 we will be ready. We are talking about hundreds of millions of euros for these purposes. And this is also A serious amount of money that allows me to talk about the need to reach 3% [from GDP] of defense costs in the coming years, ”Nauceda said.

It is reported that Lithuania with a population of 2.8 million people allocated € 1.5 billion for defense next year. This amount is 2.52% of the Republic of GDP.
