The Lithuanian Railways Group (LZD), the national state railway company of Lithuania, announced the stoppage of the transit of goods of the Russian company Lukoil to the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. Delfi.lt reports this with reference to the Lithuanian company.
“From November 21, the LZD Group will not carry out transportation in the chain of which Lukoil and related companies that are under US sanctions and Great Britain,” the company reported.
It is noted that US and UK sanctions also came into force against another Russian oil giant, Rosneft, but the products of this company have not been transported by rail to Kaliningrad in recent years.
On October 23, the US Treasury Department added the two largest Russian oil companies – Rosneft and Lukoil and their subsidiaries – to the sanctions list due to “Russia’s lack of serious commitment to the peace process to end the war in Ukraine.”
