LUKOIL increases share in major gas project of Caspian

LUKOIL Public Joint Stock Company announces the signing of an agreement on the acquisition of a 15.5% interest from the Malaysian company Petronas in the Gas Project Shahjeniz in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The amount of the transaction will be $ 2.25 billion. This has placed information on its website Russian company.

According to the report, the closure of the transaction is expected after the execution of impressions, including the coordination of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

After closing the transaction, the share of LUKOIL in the Shahjatiz project will increase from 10% to 25.5%. Other participants in the project Shaudeniz are the BP operator (28.8%), TRACE – 19%, SOCAR – 10%, NICO – 10% and SGC – 6.7%.

Shahjuniz’s share has become the second large purchase of LUKOIL in Azerbaijan over the past two weeks. At the end of September, the company signed a purchase agreement at BP 25% in the geological exploration project Shallow Water Absheron Peninsula in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The project is in the initial stage of development, in August there began construction of the first exploration well on the promising section of the North Hali.
