Budget disagreements continue to cause political instability in the France
The government of center-right politician Michel Barnier lasted only three months and was dismissed on December 4, 2024 after the opposition passed a vote of no confidence amid disagreements over the 2025 budget.
Macron appointed Francois as Prime Minister on December 13, 2024 Bairu.
In a country experiencing serious difficulties due to public debt, the budget discussion has become the main source of disagreement between the government and the opposition.
Bairu previously said that before the vote on the 2026 budget he intends to raise the issue of confidence in the government. The document provided for savings of about 43 billion euros by canceling some official holidays, which caused widespread public discontent.
Bairrou’s cabinet did not receive a vote of confidence on September 8, after which Macron appointed Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu to the post of Prime Minister on September 9.
Lecornu formed a new government on October 5, but the following day resigned due to negative public reaction.
