Macron Wants To Ban Social Networks For Children Under 15 Years Old

In France, they plan to make a ban on the use of social networks by children under 15 years of age, since social networks play a significant role in the growth of violence among young people. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron.

In an interview with France 2, Macron noted that he is advocating for the introduction of restrictions on the use of social platforms and wants such measures to operate throughout the European Union.

“We must ban social networks for children under 15 years of age,” the president of France emphasized.

He expressed the hope that the work of the European Union to establish age -related restrictions for the use of social networks by children will end for several months, but added that France would not wait for the EU to take measures.

“If this is not done at the EU level, we will begin to implement it in France. We cannot wait,” said Macron.

His statement was made against the backdrop of a tragic incident, when a high school student in France killed an employee of an educational institution using a knife.

Since 2023, in France, registration of children under 15 years of age in social networks is allowed only with the consent of the parents. Platforms are required to create a system confirming the receipt of such a permit.
