General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossy said that the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (nuclear power plant) in Ukraine, which is under the control of Russia, has completely lost its external power supply and the security situation is extremely dangerous.
Grossy distributed an application on the social network X regarding the state of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
According to him, on July 4, external power supply was completely disconnected at the station.
noting that this is already the 9th shutdown since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the first since the end of 2023, Grossy noted: “At present, the station is working with emergency diesel generators, which indicates that nuclear security is in an extremely dangerous situation”.
In the statement published on July 2, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, recalled that last week the Ukrainian army attacked the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles.
“We regret that the Magate Secretariat did not respond to these actions of the Kyiv administration. We will demand from international organizations, especially from the IAEA and the United Nations (UN), give appropriate assessment of the criminal actions of the Kyiv administration,” she said.
