Magate: Powerful explosions are rattling near Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that its experts heard powerful explosions that thundered near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The agency’s statement says that this “testifies to hostilities near the object.”

Magate experts report that some of the explosions occurred at some distance from the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, but part is much closer to it.

“Yesterday at about 10:00 local time, eight powerful breaks were heard, as a result of which windows trembled at the station’s offices. Today they were also audible,” said the head of the IAA Rafael Grossy on Thursday.

In recent weeks, the Magate reports on such incidents almost every day, adds the agency.

In this regard, Grossy called for a zone of security around the station as soon as possible, which would help to protect the ZAES on the one hand, and on the other, make sure that its territory is not used for attacks.

Last week, the head of the Magate held negotiations on the creation of such a zone with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv; He also intends to continue consultations with representatives of Russia.

Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is occupied by Russian troops from the first weeks of the war. After this, the nuclear power plant was repeatedly sheated in which the parties accuse each other.

Kyiv also claims that the Russian army uses the ZAES to store weapons and ammunition, as well as shelling regions controlled by Ukraine from its territory. Among such settlements is the city of Nikopol, which is located on the opposite of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the shore of the Dnieper.

Now the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is disabled from the Ukrainian energy system, all six of its reactors are drowned out. At the same time, two reactors operate in the “hot stop” mode, which allows the station to provide a warmth of the station and the neighboring city of Energodar.
