Mahir Mammadov – new president of Chess Federation of Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Youth and Sports held its reporting election conference of Azerbaijan Chess Federation.

There were presidential elections organization. Instead Elman Rustamov to head the federation elected Mahir Mammadov, for many years held the post of vice-president, and in 2018 was elected as vice-president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

Mahir Mammadov is the head of SOCAR Energy Georgia. A great lover of chess, he in 2000 entered the executive committee of the Federation of Azerbaijan, and in 2005 – became its vice-president. From 2004 to 2008, Mahir Mammadov, was a member of the Board of the board and treasurer of the European Chess Union. As noted above, in 2018 he was elected vice-president of FIDE, and continues to hold this high office.

Mahir Mammadov is a member of the Executive Committee of AFFA president and Sectional Football Federations.
