Mario Branko Is Appointed New Sports Director Of Portuguese Benfica

The popular Portuguese club Benfica appointed Mario Branko, who left Fenerbahce, to the post of sports director.

The club’s statement says that Lurenso Coelho, who worked in Benfica in different positions for 21 years, will leave the team this weekend, and Mario Branco will take his post.

“Mario Branco has deep knowledge of Portuguese football and proven experience in various European championships,” the statement said. The club reports that 49-year-old Branco will begin his new work on Monday, July 14.

Mario Branko served as the director of the Turkish Fenerbahce football in the 2022-2023 season and sports director in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. He broke up with “yellow-blue” last month.
