Matvienko suggested opening Russian Consulate General in Azerbaijan

Following the results of last year, 10 intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements were signed between Russia and Azerbaijan, including the Allied interaction declaration, said the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko at a meeting with the speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahibo Gafarova.

The parties called the work of the inter -parliamentary commission in two -way cooperation effective. Gafarova proposed expanding the contacts of parliamentarians at the level of committees of national parliaments, expressing confidence that this format will positively affect the development of the entire parliamentary dimension.

The meeting participants paid special attention to the strengthening of the bilateral legal framework. Matvienko expressed the opinion that according to the results of last year, we managed to achieve significant results – in particular, 10 intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements were signed, including a declaration of allied interaction.

“A clear example of allies would be the opening of the Consulate General of Russia in Azerbaijan,” added Valentina Matvienko.
