Meeting Of Council Of Heads Of Government Of CIS Began In Tajikistan

In the capital of Tajikistan, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of States – Participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is being held. This was reported by the Khovar news agency.

The meeting is chaired by the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzod and gathered delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Turkmenistan.

On the agenda – key issues of regional cooperation: from trade and economic projects to sustainable development, investment and humanitarian ties.

Participants emphasized the need for the practical implementation of agreements and the development of multilateral partnerships against the backdrop of global challenges.

Speaking at the opening, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan said that cooperation within the CIS goes beyond formalities and should contribute to specific transformations in national economies.

He thanked Russia for the work as part of the chairmanship in 2024 and outlined Dushanbe priorities for the current year – from digitalization to sustainable food support.

“We gathered not as representatives of individual states, but as a community with a common history and common tasks,” Rasulzoda said, emphasizing the importance of mutual support and stability in the region.

According to the prime minister, trade and economic cooperation with the CIS states remains one of the priority areas of the foreign policy of Tajikistan.

“Despite the preserved difficulties in the external environment, including geopolitical turbulence, food security challenges, the consequences of climate change, as well as the restrictive factors of world trade, the Republic of Tajikistan demonstrates the stability of macroeconomic indicators,” Rasulzoda said.

– President Rahmon: “It is time to strengthen real interaction”

On the eve of the meeting, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held a separate meeting with the heads of government of the CIS countries.

The Tajik leader urged not to limit himself to formal agreements and called for strengthening joint work in the field of economics, education, ecology and digitalization.

The head of state emphasized that the development of partnership should be based on the principles of trust, respect and mutual benefit.

“The measures that we are taking today are investments in a general stable future,” he said.

Rakhmon also noted that the adoption of an action plan for the implementation of the second stage of the CIS economic development strategy for the period until 2030 is an important issue of Tajikistan’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth.

At the end of the conversation, the president wished success in the work of the meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the CIS member countries.
