Astana is held in Astana the next meeting of the ministers of the defense of states – members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SOU), which is held as part of the chairmanship of Kazakhstan.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, the event is involved in the head of the delegations of the defense departments of India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus, invited as an honorary guest.
The meeting also invited the Secretary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and director of the Executive Committee of the regional anti -terrorist structure of the SCO.
For the first time, Iran acts as a full -fledged member of the organization. This year, Belarus is also expected to enter it.
The event was opened by the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan Colonel General Ruslan Zhaksylykov. He emphasized the role of the meeting as a platform for the exchange of views on topical issues of regional, international security and discuss the prospects of further cooperation.
At the meeting, it was noted that the education and development of the SCO makes an important contribution to the maintenance of peace, security and stability in the region.
