On Wednesday, Merck announced the signing of an agreement on the supply and procurement of the drug in the form of tablets, thanks to which Singapore will receive access to the experimental oral antiviral preparation of COVID-19, developed by its specialists. It is called mooring and intended to make specific errors in the genetic code of the virus, and will be the first oral antiviral drug from COVID-19.
Merck is already trying to get the approval of this tablet in the appropriate Office of the United States – the Office for Food Control and Drug Administration.
It is not clear why, but the Ministry of Health Singapore did not immediately respond to Reuters’s request for signing an agreement with Merck.
Recently it became known that Australia also purchased Merck tablets, while Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia are still negotiating her acquisition. The Filipin authorities hope that the test of antiviral pills on volunteers in the country will allow them to access the new medicine.
