Mexican President Rejects Trump’s Proposal To Send US Troops

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposal to send US troops to Mexico to fight drug cartels.

Speaking at a daily press conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum criticized Trump’s idea of sending troops to fight criminal cartels in the country, emphasizing that this issue is not negotiable.

“I told this to President Trump countless times. He suggested several times and said: “If necessary, we are ready to send US troops to Mexico to fight criminal groups.” she only spoke about readiness to cooperate,” she said.

Sheinbaum also noted the importance of ensuring national sovereignty.

“They understand this. Our agreements are based on cooperation and coordination, and the first points are very clear: respect for sovereignty, respect for territorial integrity, and cooperation and coordination without any form of subordination. We do not want interference from any foreign government,” she emphasized.

November 5 Sheinbaum has already denied claims that the Trump administration plans to send military and intelligence officers to the country to fight the cartels, arguing that Mexico is “against any interference.”
