Mfv does not know what to do with head of Foundation accused of falsifying indicators of Azerbaijan

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund could not decide on the future of the head of the Kristalline Fund Georgieva in the framework of the Doing Business rating. On the eve of Reuters reported that the meeting was on this occasion five hours. The IMF requested additional information.

“While the Council has made significant progress in its assessment, the meeting participants agreed to request more detailed details in order to complete the consideration of the issue in the near future,” the reports on the IMF website, which quotes Kommersant.

On September 16, the World Bank published an audit report in which the actions of Georgieva on the preparation of Doing Business in 2018 are criticized when she held the post of executive director of the WB. The published report states that WB staff allowed various violations in the preparation of the rating of Doing Business, in particular the indicators of China, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in it were overestimated. It also turned out that Azerbaijan’s rating for 2020 was deliberately understood. World Bank staff told the detectives by the American law firm Wilmerhale that Simeon Dyankov (Bulgarian economist, one of the authors of the Doing Business Report concept, in 2017-2019 was a top manager of the World Bank, Advisor Georgieva) was hostile to Azerbaijan. He stated that the decision to “freeze” recognition of some reforms in Azerbaijan, despite the objections of the Doing Business team, in his opinion, corresponded to a certain “Uzbekistan Protocol” (Uzbekistan Protocol) – “an uncommitable rule that made it possible to refrain from suspicious reforms.” Dyankov personally gave an indication not to recognize the reforms of Azerbaijan. Georgiev also denies all the accusations. Because of this, the compilation of the rating was suspended.
