The world and sustainable development are inextricably linked. You cannot have one without the other. And you cannot have either one or the other without the participation of everyone. This statement was made by the Messenger of the UN World, Hollywood star Michael Douglas at a youth event dedicated to the International Day of the world, the UN press service reports.
He recalled that today the world has been faced with the largest number of conflicts since the Second World War.
Douglas noted the important role of youth in the preservation of the world. “Society is changing at an incredible speed,” he said, referring to the young residents of the planet. “It is that you have the opportunity to best use these changes in the best way. You all have a great force to make this world better.” The actor expressed the hope that the next generation will be able to straighten the course and “Tale of the ship in the right direction.”
In his activities as the Messenger of the World of the UN, Michael Douglas deals with disarmament, including nuclear non -proliferation and cessation of illegal trading in small arms and light weapons.
International World of World is celebrated annually on September 21. The UN General Assembly offers on this day all the warring parties to observe a 24-hour ceasefire regime.
