Minister Fickret Mamedov was elected vice president of International Association of Anti-Corruption Bodies

On the eve of the International Day of Anti-Corruption – On December 9, a meeting of the Executive Committee, which is the governing body of the IAACA, was held in video conferencing. It is reported by Haqqin.az with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan as one of the organizers of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Bodies (IAACA), which unites more than 100 countries, takes an active part in the work of this structure.

Speaking at the event, Vice-President of the Association, Minister of Justice Fickret Mamedov said that a strong struggle against corruption was conducted as a priority sphere of state policy in Azerbaijan, the country actively cooperates with IAACA playing an important role in global anti-corruption struggle. The Minister put forward proposals on the perspective of the organization’s activities and other topics discussed.

In the course of the event, the new composition of the executive committee of the Association was also determined due to the expiration of the term of office of the Association, the head of the Hong Kong corruption commission was the new president of the organization. Taking into account the active participation of Azerbaijan in the work of IAACA, as well as the effective representation of the republic and valuable contribution, the candidacy of the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan was approved for the position of vice president of the structure.

At the same time, it was decided that to improve the efficiency of IAACA, the new president and vice-presidents would be responsible for the promotion of anti-corruption measures in specific regions and strengthening international cooperation for these purposes.

During the meeting, it was also decided to hold a general meeting next month, on which key organizational issues will be considered.
