Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev called the possible sanctions of the European Union to be “illegal and counterproductive”.
Tsivilev commented on the plan of the European Commission aimed at the phased elimination of dependence on Russian energy carriers.
“They try to do this for a long time, but we find the opportunity to sell our products. It is in demand in the world, there are many consumers who want to take these products. We believe that those measures that they use in the form of sanctions are illegal and counterproductive, including for the inhabitants of these countries. We already see what consequences from this are formed. We think that they will realize our own. statements, but we will find the opportunity to supply our products to those who are interested in, and the demand for our products is large.
On May 6, the European Commission presented the “road map” on a phased refusal to import energy carriers from Russia.
“Roadmap” provides for the gradual removal of Russian oil, gas and nuclear energy from the EU markets.
The Chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der Lyain said that dependence on Russia is harming not only the security, but also the economy of the EU member countries.
“Our energy prices cannot be bored with a hostile neighbor,” she said.
