Minister Of Trade Bolat: Relations Of Turkey And Russia Grew Into Partnerships

Relations between Turkey and Russia remain politically stable, are actively developing in the areas of the economy, energy and tourism and have reached the level of partnership. This was stated by the Minister of Trade of Turkey Omer Bolat, speaking at the event of the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK), held in Moscow.

He emphasized that relations between the two countries have always had great importance and were reflected not only in politics and diplomacy, but also in trade and economic ties.

Bolat recalled that the Russian economy began to recover 25 years after President Vladimir Putin came to power in 1999.

“Our economic relations also developed rapidly thanks to the strong and warm relations established between the Putin administration and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after 2002,” he said.

The Minister noted that Russia has become the largest trading partner in Turkey.

“Turkish -Russian relations are political in politically, develop in economics, energy and tourism and outgrown into a partnership covering many areas, including industry, agriculture and services,” he added.

According to Bolat, Russia this year is one of the “target countries” for Turkish trade. The minister also emphasized that thanks to this policy, the effectiveness of export stimuli increased by 20%. He said that Türkiye supported businessmen to participate in 241 exhibition held in Russia over the past two years.

The ministry also noted that Russia ranks second after Germany in the number of Turkish trade consultants.

“The Russian authorities also express great interest in Turkish business. The Russian side is satisfied with the continuation and development of economic relations with Turkey. We maintain economic relations with Russia for all types of products, with the exception of those that the embargo extends,” he stressed.
