Belarus and Russia agreed on further steps to strengthen the defense potential. This is the Minister of Defense of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, according to the results of a meeting with the Russian colleague Andrei Belousov, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus on Friday, May 16.

“We agreed on further steps to maintain and strengthen the defense potential necessary to prevent threats to military security and reflect aggression in case of unleashing,” said the head of the defense department of Belarus.

According to the minister, the measures held made it possible to comprehensively discuss topical issues of interaction in the military sector and ensuring the security of the Union State. “Our views in this area are completely coincided,” said Khrenin.

A meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus demonstrated that the head of the Belarusian state is controlled by all aspects of our relations, and military and military-technical cooperation is the cornerstone of interstate interaction, he noted.

Subject joint work in this direction will continue, and all the agreements reached, including the implementation of the security guarantees within the framework of the Union State, were fulfilled in full, the Minister assured.

“We stood and henceforth we will stand shoulder to the shoulder on the security of our countries and peoples and will take all the necessary response measures in the event of any encroachment on the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation,” Khrenin added.
