Belarus and SCO countries will be a support in creating new security systems in Eurasia and the world.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin at a meeting of ministers of the defense of states – members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana, BelTA.
According to the minister, in the context of global geopolitical transformations, the usual architecture of international security has actually ceased to exist.
“One of the results of the current situation was degradation and the screening of the system of control over weapons and the unleashing of the next round of arms race,” said the head of the defense department.
According to Khrenin, Belarus is interested in restoring the influence of international security and cooperation organizations, their effective activities in the field of preventing and resolving military conflicts.
SCO and the participating countries of the organization can become a support in creating new security systems in Eurasia and the world, the Minister said.
Khrenin emphasized that Minsk advocates the peaceful resolution of any disputes and conflicts.
“Belarus decided to join the SCO and to date, completed all the necessary procedures for joining the organization. Belarus and SCO will be able to ensure the construction of a fair and balanced world order based on equal, joint, indivisible, comprehensive and stable security system, ensuring the interests of each state in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, ”the head of the department added.
