Ministry of Ecology finds out causes of death of seals in Caspian

The cause of the death of the Caspian seal (PhoCa Caspica), discovered on the coast of the Caspian Sea in Dagestan, is currently being studied by specialists of the Caspian countries. The samples of the remains were taken for bacteriological and virological analyzes, said Firudin Aliyev, head of the Biodiversity of the Biodiversity of the Biodiversity of the Biodiversity of Biodegrades of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.

According to him, the cause of the death of seals will be established after laboratory tests of pathological material of animal carcasses.

“In the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian, there were no dead seals, but in the coming days, carcasses of marine mammals can get from the side of Dagestan to the northern shores of the Apsheron by marine trends,” said Aliyev.

Note that during preliminary discussions with the scientific centers of Russia and Kazakhstan, it was possible that the current mortality of seals will be similar to mass mortality that occurred as a result of infection with the dog plague virus in 2000.
