Minsk and Moscow strengthen cooperation in field of nuclear and radiation safety

Belarus and Russia are preparing new allied programs in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. This was announced in an interview with BelTA correspondent, the head of the State Supreme Administration of Belarus Olga Lugovskaya.

“Two union programs have already been prepared. One of them concerns the development of infrastructure for radioactive waste management. It is associated with the construction of a radioactive waste burial point in our country, but will cover a wider range of issues related to the development of personnel potential, development of regulatory documents, research work, ”said Olga Lugovskaya.

The second program with the conditional name “Detectors and Crystals” is associated with the radiation control system: spectrometers, radiometers, dosimeters, radiation analyzers and other devices, she said.

“For this dashboard, a periodic update and repair of equipment is required so that the system as a whole continues to perform its functions. Issues relating to the component base for the production of these devices are very relevant in the conditions of sanctions. In 1990-2000, this was not given sufficient Attention neither in our country nor in the Russian Federation, but now there is a question of the revival of the industry, ”said the head of the state supervision supervision.

According to her, the work on the Chernobyl theme continues in parallel, the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia interacts with the Belarusian side. “The project of the joint activity program within the Union State is highly readiness. We hope that the Union program will be launched since 2025. In addition, an allied program in the field of emergency readiness and response through the EMERCOM of Belarus and Russia is intensively developed,” Olga Luga drew attention to attention .

In the future, taking into account the operation of the Belarusian, there is a proposal for a program that will concern the safety of using atomic energy objects. “Together with Rostekhnadzor, we will develop this program,” said the head of the state supervision supervision.
