The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, and the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, at a meeting in Bucharest, confirmed their readiness to accelerate joint projects in the field of infrastructure, energy and European integration of Moldova. This was reported by the press service of the Government of Moldova on Thursday, November 13.
Munteanu noted that relations between the two states are based on the inextricable connection between the inhabitants of both banks of the Prut, and emphasized the constant support of Romania on the European path of Chisinau.
“The Republic of Moldova and Romania have a special relationship based on the inextricable connection between the inhabitants of both banks of the Prut. At the same time, Romania has always been close to us, giving us confidence and support on our European path. We have a clear program for the next 10 years and a common commitment to translate the expectations of citizens on both banks of the Prut into concrete results,” said Munteanu.
The head of the Cabinet thanked Romania for the support provided in all directions, emphasizing the potential for increasing the number of bilateral projects in the fields of economics, education and general infrastructure. According to him, by 2027 the Sculeni-Sculeni, Cahul-Oancea and Leuseni-Albitsa bridges will be modernized. Work is underway on the Ungheni-Ungheni bridge, and the preparation of four more new bridges across the Prut has been accelerated, which will strengthen the connection between the two countries: Costesti-Stanca, Leova-Bumbata, Leca-Falciu and Bärboeni-Răducăneni.
The parties also emphasized the importance of energy connection projects. It is noted that work on the high-voltage power transmission line Chisinau-Vulcanesti will be completed by the end of this year, and two more connections are planned for the coming years: Balti-Suceava and Straseni-Gutinas.
