Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Mikhail Popshay held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Oano-Silvia Tsoi, who first arrived in Moldova after taking office. On Tuesday, July 22, the press service of the Moldova Foreign Ministry reports.
“The presence of the minister in Chisinau confirms a special connection and strong friendly relations between our states. Romania remains the main strategic partner of Moldova on the path of European integration,” said Mikhail Popshoy.
During negotiations, the parties discussed key issues of cooperation – economic development, energy security, infrastructure development and deepening sector partnerships.
Particular attention was paid to the active support of Romania of the most important projects in the areas of energy, infrastructure, education and investment.
The minister emphasized that Romania is the largest trading partner and foreign investor of Moldova, on the market of which more than 1,600 Romanian companies operate. “This partnership helps to modernize the vital sectors and integration of the country into the European market,” the head of the department added.
, for its part, Oan Sylvia Tsoi confirmed the firm support of the Romania of the European integration aspirations of Moldova. “We are united by a common story, traditions and most importantly – a common future in the European Union. Our partnership is based on trust and joint obligations,” she said.
Both ministers also confirmed the significance of strategic partnership between the two countries, which provides a strong basis for the further development of cooperation and support for the European Course of Moldova.
The focus of attention were projects on energy intercombs, including the line of Isakchea-Vylkenezht-Kishinev-key to ensuring the country’s energy security.
“Romania will continue to actively help accelerate the implementation of these initiatives, which strengthen our ties not only at the geographical, but also at the strategic level,” said the Romanian minister.
Mikhail Popshay emphasized that political, technical and financial support of Romania plays a crucial role in all stages of transformations in Moldova. “We are counting on the further strengthening of partnership and closer cooperation for the well -being of our citizens,” he added.
In addition, the parties discussed the situation with regional security, confirmed the support of Ukraine and commitment to a sustainable and fair world.
The Dialogue considered the possibility of holding a new tripartite meeting of Moldova-Romania-Ukraine in early August, as well as joint efforts to restore Ukraine, including the creation of a regional economic and logistics corridor.
In conclusion, Mikhail Popshaya expressed gratitude to Romania for the invariable support and again confirmed the determination of Moldova to continue reforms, ensure stability and get closer to the European Union.
