Moldova Foreign Minister Announced Commitment Of Republic Of Democracy And Rule Of Law

The Republic of Moldova is firmly committed to democratic values, the rule of law and human rights.

About this, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Mikhai Popshay said at the 134th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Luxembourg.

According to Moldpres, representatives of 46 member states and observers of the Council of Europe took part in the event.

The head of Moldavian diplomacy emphasized the most important role of the Council of Europe in the geopolitical context, noted by instability.

Mikhai Popshya said that preparations for the acceptance by the Republic of Moldova of the Chairmen in the Committee of Ministers are in full swing. Moldova will occupy this post from November 2025 to May 2026, and the official program will include events organized in Chisinau and Strasbourg. The chairmanship of Moldova will end with a ministerial session, which will be held in Chisinau on May 14-15, 2026.

The agenda of the meeting included decisions on the support of Ukraine, as well as the official start of the new Convention of the Council of Europe on the protection of the profession of a lawyer signed by the Republic of Moldova.

On the fields of the forum, Mikhai Popshai also held a tripartite meeting with Foreign Ministers of Monaco and Montenegro Isabelle Burro-Amate and Erwin Ibragimovich.

Officials discussed the coordination of priorities for future chairmans of the Committee of Ministers aimed at strengthening the European Convention on Human Rights, Combating disinformation, counteracting hybrid threats, as well as support for the formation and participation of youth.
