Moldova’s energy security issues were discussed in Chisinau

The higher the degree of energy security, the faster the Republic of Moldova is approaching the European Union.

About this, the director of the Energy Community Secretariat, Arthur Lorkovsky, said according to the results of a meeting with members of the Parliamentary Commission on Economics, Budget and Finance, Environmental Commission, Climate and Green Transition, as well as the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission in Chisinau, reports Moldpres.

At the meeting of the cancellation of progress, achieved by Moldova in the energy sector, one of which is the liberalization of the natural gas deposit.

“Last year, the Republic of Moldova achieved progress in stabilizing energy security, this opens up new opportunities for reforms in this area,” Lorkovsky noted.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission on Economics, Budget and Finance Radu Marian touched the reform program in the field of energy security, which should be carried out in the next period.

According to him, in 2024 it is planned to concentrate efforts in everything related to energy efficiency.

For example, we will strengthen the energy efficiency fund, promote the cogeneration policy, reduce the influence of the natural gas source and increase the cogeneration, as is happening in European countries, ”the deputy said.

During the discussions, the director of the Secretariat of the Energy Community expressed his readiness to continue to support the Republic of Moldova in the process of ensuring energy security.
