Montenegro: Visa-free Regime With Turkey Will Be Canceled Within 10-15 Days

Montenegro Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic said that, in his opinion, his country’s recent decision to suspend the visa-free regime with Turkey will be lifted within 10-15 days.

Ibrahimovic held a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful, who is on an official visit to the Montenegrin capital Podgorica.

Answering a question on the suspension of the visa-free regime with Turkey following an incident in Montenegro at the end of October in which Turkish citizens were allegedly involved, Ibrahimovic said: “We are in constant contact with the Prime Minister (Milojko Spajic). I believe that the decision to suspend the visa-free regime (with Turkey) will be lifted within 10-15 days.”

He added that after the suspension visa-free regime in Turkish missions in Montenegro, there is an increased influx of visitors.

It turned out that the Turks have nothing to do with the incident in Montenegro

The Montenegrin media reported about a “stabbing attack involving Turkish citizens in Podgorica”, after which the Prime Minister of Montenegro Spajic, in his post on the social network of the American company X, announced the temporary suspension of the visa-free regime for Turkish citizens.

The Podgorica High Court ruled that two Turkish citizens detained on charges of “participation in an attack with a bladed weapon” had nothing to do with the incident and were released.
