In Turkey in May 2025, 1771 housing was sold to foreign citizens – this is 14.2% less compared to May last year. Such data were published by the Turkish Institute of Statistics (Tüi̇k).
transactions with foreigners amounted to 1.4% of the total sales of housing in the country per month. Foreigners acquired most of all real estate in Istanbul – 648 objects. It is followed by the Antalya (594 objects) and Mersin (145).
In the period from January to May, foreigners also decreased by 13.7% compared to the same period of 2024 and amounted to 7789 objects.
Citizens of Russia are the leaders of the Russian citizenship – they purchased 274 real estate objects in May. This is followed by citizens of Iran (133 objects) and Germany (127 objects).
The number of mortgage transactions throughout the country in May increased by 95.9% in annual terms and reached 19,412. Their share in the total volume was 14.9%.
From January to May, 88,606 mortgage transactions were recorded – 98.7% more compared to the same period last year. Of these, 4674 are primary sales for May, and for five months – 21 062.
Housing sales according to other schemes (without a mortgage) in May increased by 9.9% to 110,613 objects, which is 85.1% of the total volume.

The primary market also showed growth: in May 39,546 new objects were sold – 11.2% more than last year. Their share in the total sales amounted to 30.4%. For five months, 174 055 new objects were implemented – an increase of 17.7%.
The secondary market also activated: in May, sales increased by 20.6%, amounting to 90,479 objects. From January to May, 410,115 secondary housing facilities were sold – an increase of 29%.
