Turkey conducting a ground operation in Syria will strengthen tension in the region and will lead to an increase in terrorist activity, as the Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova believes, its words are given by Russian media.
According to her, Russia understands Turkey’s concern about threats of national security. However, in the Russian Federation they proceed from the fact that the best way to solve all security issues in the border regions is a direct dialogue between the Turkish and Syrian authorities.
“We maintain close contacts with the Turkish side on Syrian problems. We understand Turkey’s concern about threats of its national security, at the same time we believe that conducting a terrestrial operation in Syrian territory will only intensify tension in the region and lead to an increase in terrorist activity” – said Zakharova.
On the eve of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan allowed a terrestrial military operation in Syria and Iraq.
