Myanmar’s authorities released more than 23 thousand prisoners

Myanmar’s authorities decided to release more than 23 thousand prisoners on amnesty, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the State Administrative Council, the sentences were canceled 23,047 criminals, including 137 foreigners prisoners. The decision to free the prisoners was taken on the occasion of the traditional New Year.

Last year, at the Parliamentary elections in Myanmar, the “National League for Democracy” party, which received 396 of 476 seats, was again obtained the opportunity to form the government for the next five years.

The batch of solidarity and the development of the Union, supported by the military, received only 33 mandates. Representatives of the army complained about falsification and challenged the results in the Supreme Court, but the election commission did not find evidence of fraud.
