NASA collided its spacecraft with asteroid

NASA spacecraft crashed into an asteroid during an unprecedented experiment in order to understand whether it is possible to bring down a potentially dangerous space stone from the course, reports Associated Press.

Galactic clash with a harmless asteroid occurred on Monday at a distance of 9.6 million kilometers. The Dart spacecraft crashed into a small space stone at a speed of 22,500 kilometers per hour. According to scientists, as a result of the collision, the crater should have formed, and streams of stones and dust were thrown into the cosmic space. Scientists hope that the collision has changed the orbit of asteroid.

It will take several days or even weeks before NASA finds out how much the spacecraft was pushed by the asteroid.
