NASA: Mars accelerates its rotation

Scientists from the US aerospace agency (NASA) found that Mars began to rotate faster, which would lead to shortening the duration of Martian days. This is evidenced by studies published in Nature magazine, reports Sky News.

As a result of the study, it was found that Mars rotates faster than it was measured earlier, namely, with the acceleration of 4.4 corner milliseconds per year. This means that every Martian year long days on Mars will be reduced to a fraction of milliseconds. The current indications of the speed of rotation of the Red Planet helped to find out the NASA Insight probe. Scientists used the first 900 days data from the Insight ground apparatus on Mars, thus finding a change in the speed of rotation of the red planet.

Scientists believe that the study of data through Insight can take many years and a lot of new information can be obtained.

Insight has been on the surface of Mars for 4 years.
